#17 Seed
Look closely at the 2004/05 Florida Gators and you can see the seeds of their championship pattern begin to emerge. Led by veterans David Lee, Anthony Roberson, and Matt Walsh, these Gators managed to find minutes for all of their key young talent (Brewer, Horford, and Noah). The Gators strong-but-erratic seasonal stat line (poise, resilience, dominance, and ball control challenges) indicate the unavoidable growing pains of a young team with a bright future. Billy Donovan's 4th seeded team lost to a hard-nosed #5 Villanova, a Big East power that gave ultimate 2005 champion UNC Tarheels all they could handle in a very controversial loss. These young Gators would avenge their loss to the top #1 overall seeded Wildcats in the 2005/06 dance, leading the way to the programs 1st of 2 consecutive mens CBB titles. |
