#4 Seed: Led by an outstanding trio of players, Jamie Dixon's 2008/09 Pitt Panthers put on quite a show! In one of the strongest and greatest of Big East seasons, the Panthers put together a dominant 15-3 record.  Steady point guard Levance Fields led the attack, often with smooth shooting Sam Young hitting big shots.  It was the bruising style of  DeJuan Blair at center that will forever be etched in the memory of CBB fans as the signature of this Pittsburgh team.  Coach Dixon's Panther squad was eliminated by instate rival Villanova, as Scottie Reynolds hit a fading floater with 0.5 seconds remaining in their dramatic elite 8 match finish.  It was a cruel ending to an otherwise brilliant season for coach Dixon the Panther nation.
