#8 Seed: The 2001/02 Cincinnati Bearcats earned their number 1 dance seed by rolling through the Conference USA title with a 14-2 record.  While they dominated many opponents with offensive firepower, it was their stout defense which truly stood out. Their March dreams ended in a spectacular double-overtime loss to UCLA, the winning Bruins being one of the most talented 8 seeds in NCAA tourney history.  Leonard Stokes put up a career high 39 points in the Cats exit/loss. Coach Bob Huggins stayed on at Cincy after the season ended, much to the dismay of his fellow West Virginia alums, many of whom had been wooing him to return to the Mountaineers helm.  When Huggins did finally return to WVU, he eventually helped lead his almamater's 2010 return to the promise land that is the Final Four.
